You read that right, pilgrim. This is my wastebasket. Unlike many, I don't overestimate the importance of my website. After all, it's just something I've thrown together in my spare time about my hobbies and interests. So kick back, relax, and have a gander at what I've got to say.

Okay, since you're still here, it's possible you might actually want to know a little bit about me. Well here it is...

Name: Jeremy Shawn Carman
Birthdate: May 7th, 1974

Now was that enlightening or what? You may consider that your first koan.

I'll be frank with you, I don't really have a lot of things to talk about on a website. I'm a pretty reserved and conservative kind of guy. There's really only three things I'm even remotely passionate about (if you don't count my political views, that is). Those three things, in order, are as follows:
  • My fiancee, Julie Wilson Hanson.
  • My occupation, Special Education.
  • And my foremost hobby, role-playing games.
Now, there's no way I'm gonna put up a page about Julie here, because there's a lot of pervs and psychos out there and the last thing I want is one of 'em stalking my sweetie. So you guys get lost.

Similarly, it's difficult to devote a page exclusively to Special Education without getting into a lot of lesson plans and similar resources, which I don't intend to do (at least not right away, that is). Therefore, I will restrict myself to a single page devoted to the summer program where I work, J.O.Y. School (see below).

That leaves my hobby: role-playing games. The very phrase itself conjures a number of images and impressions, many of which, unfortunately, are negative. This view stems from misunderstanding and ignorance. The most recent personal attack on my RPG hobby came from my beloved finacee's mother, who accused me of "...playing at killing people all the time." Despite my rational debate to the contrary, I'm afraid she remains steadfastly against RPG's. For that purpose, I have constructed a Role-Playing Advocacy page.

Interests of Mine

Perhaps the single most formative event in my lifetime, J.O.Y. School has both helped me find my true calling as well as introduce me to the coworker who would become my fiancee. Everyone should have an opportunity to be involved in something as meaningful and selfless as this program. Check it out.
My personal philosophy on gaming as well as links to numerous studies and resources that can help you dispel myths about the "evils of gaming."

This is a simply fascinating RPG from the fine folks at AEG. This game broke all the rules when it first appeared on the market and it's still going strong. I can't recommend it enough. Enter the world of Rokugan and take your place as a samurai defending the Emerald Empire from its enemies, many of which are fellow samurai!
As a huge fan of the Star Wars movies, novels, toys, comics, etc., I was naturally drawn to the RPG. When West End Games went bankrupt, I was heartbroken. My roommate Matt and I enjoyed Episode One so much that we had to compile The Phantom Menace Sourcebook!!
FINALLY UP!!
This is the page I put the most work into, probably because I've read comic books since I was in the third grade. There's nothing like pretending to be a superhero for a day!!
This is just some information on my brothers, the Kyoudai, complete with photos and links to their respective websites where applicable.
